Bridging Healthcare Gaps
Island Liaison links Arizona-based Pacific Islanders to healthcare centers where they can obtain affordable primary care and other assistance as needed, especially those from the independent island nations of the Freely Associated States (FAS): The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), and the Republic of Palau.
FAS islanders are not US Citizens and, therefore, are not eligible for many federal or state services, including essential healthcare services.
Until recently, as last year, 2020 December, Congress restored Medicaid (AHCCCS) eligibility to the COFA Agreement. Medicaid is known as the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) in Arizona and is accepted by Mountain Park Health Center.

Mountain Park Health Center focuses on giving the community access to affordable primary care if you do not have health insurance.

- Eligibility Interview as a new patient to apply for the MPHC Sliding Fee Discount Program. (Co-pay on a sliding scale BASED ON INCOME)
- Federal Emergency Services (FES) INTERVIEW
Eligibility for these programs are good for 1 year & MUST BE RENEWED.

Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH)
Island Liaison has co-facilitated Lunch-n-Learns with MCDPH Office of Family Health Services to help provide awareness of the island culture and issues faced within the community.
3 May 2017 & 23 May 2016: Island Liaison facilitated the “Lunch-n-Learn” series Health Equity for the MCDPH office of Family Health Services. Presenters from RMI Island Liaison’s community outreach volunteers.
